PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) — The final vote was 9-6 Tuesday night as members of Allegheny County Council rejected a proposed Police Review Board.
The board would have had no investigative powers but could have made recommendations to the district attorney in police involved shootings. It also would have reviewed police department policies.
The call for a review board came after the fatal shooting of Antwon Rose last year by an East Pittsburgh police officer who was acquitted in a criminal trial.
Some of the members who voted against it agreed with the concept, but felt there were flaws in the legislation. Co-sponsor DeWitt Walton has vowed to reintroduce the measure.
