PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Several neighborhoods across the city will host events and celebrations for the celebration of Small Business Saturday.
The Pittsburgh Parking Authority is waiving parking meter fees on Saturday around Market Sqaure in order to encourage residents to shop local.
The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership (PDP) starts their Holiday Shopping Passport Program with a kickoff event in Market Square from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Several downtown businesses will reward shoppers who return their completed passports on Small Business Saturday, with additional prizes being raffled to those who complete it by December 23rd.
In Bloomfield, an event will be held by the Bloomfield Development Corporation's Board of Directors at Spill Wine Bar from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Brookline will host their Lights Up Celebration in the business district of Brookline Blvd from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. that will also feature a tree lighting at Canon Park.
Homewood is featuring their own "Passport to Homewood" program that features discounts by local businesses until January 1st.
In Oakland, a tree lighting ceremony will be held on December 6th in coordination with deals from retailers in Oakland's business district.
Small businesses from areas like Deutschtown, Brighton Heights and Marshall-Shadeland will also take to the streets in the Northside for the 4th Annual Northside Small Business Saturday celebration.
