PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – The city of Pittsburgh wants to share real time traffic data with the Waze app and a coalition of transportation agencies.

KDKA Radio’s Joe DeStio reports the idea is to better manage transportation planning.

The city would share its traffic data with Waze so employees can better manage congestion and road projects.

A similar plan is proposed for what’s called the I-95 Corridor Coalition.

A statement from the mayor’s office says no individual or person data are used.

City council, which must approve the no-cost agreements, has in the past expressed concerns about people’s privacy.

The measures were introduced Tuesday.
