PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - University of Pittsburgh Police and City of Pittsburgh Police are searching for a suspect after an attempted robbery in Oakland on Monday afternoon.

University of Pittsburgh Police say that they responded to Bruegger’s Bagels in the 3700 block of Forbes Avenue around 4:30 p.m with City of Pittsburgh Police.

Victims told police that the suspect demanded that they open the cash register and give him money. The suspect had his hand inside his pocket, which the victims assumed was a firearm, but police say no weapon was seen during the incident. The suspect fled north on Atwood Street after the victims failed to open the cash register.

The suspect is described as a short black man with a slender build around 40-50 years of age. He was wearing a black leather jacket, carpenter style khaki pants, a hat and a blue drawstring backpack. He was also carrying a red bag.
