PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The Smithfield Street Bridge has been reopened after a barge struck it late Sunday night.
The bridge was closed over the course of a few hours as PennDot crews inspected the bridge.
“Barge struck the Smithfield Street bridge. No injuries or obvious damage. Bridge will remain shut down until PennDot responds to inspect the bridge,” Allegheny County said on Twitter Sunday night.

December 2, 2019 KDKA-TV reports that the bridge has been reopened for the Monday morning commute.
There are currently no details on what caused the barge to hit the bridge.
