PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The Mayor of Arnold, PA has been ordered to pay a $10,000 fine for ethics violations.

Karen Peconi allegedly intervened in her son's application to be an Arnold police officer.

Peconi sat on the Arnold Civil Service Board at the time.

The ethics panel found that she substituted an oral question given to her son.

He was the only candidate to get a perfect score on the question.

Officials say she also failed to disclose her income on financial interest forms for three years.

Peconi was defeated for re-election in the spring primary.

Peconi also faced criticism last summer after perceived racially insensitive posts online after the shooting death of 17-year-old Antwon Rose by an East Pittsburgh Police Officer
