PA Dept of Health Confirms 711 New COVID-19 Cases

HARRISBURG, Pa (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Pennsylvania's Deaprtment of Health released a new COVID-19 case count on Monday, confirming 711 new cases throughout the state.

The new numbers bring the statewide total to 101,738.


Alleghney County on Monday reported 172 new cases.

Over the last week, there have been 153,838 COVID-19 tests conducted and more than 5,600 positive cases.

"As the state has put in place new mitigation efforts to offset recent case increases, we must renew our commitment to protecting against COVID-19 by wearing a mask, practicing social distancing and following the requirements set forth in the orders for bars and restaurants, gatherings and telework," Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine said. "Pennsylvania has been a model for the country on how to reopen effectively using a careful, measured approach. However, we know the virus has not gone away as we see cases rise, so we must work together to stop another surge."

According to the Department of Health, 19-24 year-olds make up 21 percent of the cases in Southwestern PA. A siginifcant jump from April when the age group respresented approximately 5 percent of the cases.
