PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) The Pennsylvania Department of Health has updated their guidance for travelers returning from mainland China.
There have been 12 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the United States and none in Pennsylvania.
The PA Health Department still wants travelers who are returning from China to remain cautious, suggesting you self-monitor for fever, cough, and shortness of breath.
Dr. Rachel Levine stated that if you are returning from the Hubei Province within the last 14 days to contact 1-877-PA-HEALTH (1-877-724-3258) while the threat of spreading remains low.
"While we caution Pennsylvanians to avoid all unnecessary travel to and from China at this time, we understand that it cannot all be avoided," Dr. Levine said. "In that case, we are urging Pennsylvanians to be aware of and follow our guidelines to help protect their health and others around them."
Dr. Levine also said that if a traveler feels symptoms to avoid contact with others and to contact 1-877-PA-HEALTH to discuss symptoms and travel history.
Symptoms could develop as soon as two days or as late as 14 days after exposure.
