HARRISBURG (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A Pennsylvania State Lawmaker wants the phrase, "In God We Trust" to return to public Schools.

Cris Dush, who represents parts of Indiana County and all of Jefferson County tried in the past to a bill passed and announced in May that he was planning to reintroduce the legislation that would allow schools to post the motto if they wished.

In a memorandum the PA House members Dush said, "My legislation will allow school districts to display the motto in each school building. The display of our nation's motto may take the form of mounted plaques or artwork from a student contest that will be prominently displayed in each school building."

Dush also said House Bill 1602 or the "National Motto Display Act" would protect schools from lawsuits if they chose to display the motto.

The Republican's bill passed on a party line vote last week by the House State Government Committee and will be considered in the future.

Lawmakers reconvene on October 21.
