
PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Part of the Allegheny County Courthouse is closed after an attorney who tested positive for COVID-19 was in the building on Thursday.
The Criminal Division of the Allegheny County Court of Common Please, PFA Department and Magisterial District Court 05-2-11 were all temporarily closed late Friday morning.
Late Friday afternoon, Judge Kim Berkeley amended the court's emergency operation orders. Until further notice no in-person hearings or proceedings can take place in the Criminal Division.
Activities such as bail hearings, sentencing hearings, probation hearings, non-jury trials and more are required to take place remotely.
In addition, hearings or proceedings that cannot be conducted remotely will be continued.
According to the Fifth Judicial District of Pennsylvania’s website, the attorney appeared in Magisterial District court 05-2-11 in the morning and District Court 05-2-11 in the afternoon.
The attorney was last in the Family Law center on both July 21 and 22, primarily in the PFA Area.
The attorney was in the Courtroom of Bruce R. Beermer in the Allegheny County Courthouse on July 20.
Employees working in those areas have been quarantined.
The Allegheny County Health Department will be conducting contract tracing investigations.
