HARRISBURG (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Pennsylvania's unemployment rate hit 6.0 percent in March, up 1.3 percent from the month before. That number comes from data collected before March 14, days before Governor Tom Wolf shut down all non-essential businesses.
Jobs were down in 10 of 11 industries, with the largest losses in leisure and hospitality.
The number of people looking for work declined by 19,000 over the month of February.
Resident employment was down 104,000 and unemployment was up by 85,000.
The national unemployment rate was up nine-tenths of a point to 4.4 percent.
