(Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The Pittsburgh area rapidly approaching peak season for leaf peepers.
The PA Department of Conversation and Natural Resources says Allegheny, Washington, Greene and Fayette counties are approaching the best color of the fall season.
Beaver, Butler Armstrong Westmoreland and Somerset are at their best color right now.
The DCNR says the areas around the Laurel Highlands are prime places to enjoy the leaves this weekend.
They also add that the “reds, pinks, and oranges of maples are developing nicely“ in the lower elevations of Allegheny, Washington, Greene and Somerset counties.
Experts expect a week to 10 days to be prime time for leaf peeping in Allegheny and the other counties still approaching best color.
