STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A Penn State fraternity was placed on interim suspension after a young man was pronounced dead at an off-campus house.

According to Penn State’s website, medical assistance was sought at an off-campus house allegedly occupied by Chi Phi members for an unresponsive male on Saturday night.

The individual, who was not a Penn State student but visiting State College, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Penn State has issued an interim suspension of the Alpha Delta Chapter of Chi Phi fraternity while State College Police and the University’s Office of Student Conduct investigate.

"The interim suspension means the fraternity loses all privileges as a recognized student organization pending the outcome of the investigations. The organization may not participate, attend or organize any functions, activities or events, or participate in University-wide events as an organization," a release explained.
