PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank is launching a new campaign geared toward raising awareness about social inequality.
"Food Justice is Social Justice" was rolled out Monday will use their digital platforms to highlight social justice organizations in the region. Over the next three weeks, those organizations will include 1Hood Media, the Black Political Empowerment Project (B-PEP) and the Pittsburgh YWCA’s Center for Race and Gender Equality. After the first three weeks, the Food Bank will then feature a different organization each month over the next year.
"Today we take another step forward in our commitment to advocating for racial and social justice,” said Lisa Scales, President and CEO of the Food Bank. “Social inequality is one of the root causes of food insecurity. We want to leverage our visibility in the community and take meaningful action to support those who are on the front line in the fight against social and racial inequality."
