Pittsburgh: A Great Place To Take A 'Staycation'

Pittsburgh

(Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - When it comes to taking a vacation in your own backyard, Pittsburgh ranks rather high on a new list.

Out of 182 cities, Pittsburgh ranks 31st on WalletHub’s new list of best places for a “Staycation”.

The site used three aspects, Recreation, Food & Entertainment and Relaxation.

For Recreation, they looked at things like the number of Playgrounds, parks, running trails, shopping centers, etc. per capita.

Food and Entertainment took into account the cost of going to a movie, bowling, drink prices and number of museums, zoos, and other entertainment per capita.

For rest and relaxation Wallet Hub took into account the cost of house cleaning services, beauty salons and a massage parlor appointment as well as the number of spas and wellness centers and beaches per capita (that probably brought us down a few points)!

The top five cities were

  1. Honolulu
  2. Orlando
  3. Chicago
  4. San Diego
  5. Portland

The five worst for a staycation are

  1. Chula Vista, CA
  2. Oxnard, CA
  3. Yonkers, NY
  4. Bridgeport, CT
  5. Irving, TX

Cleveland, OH ranked 48th, just sayin'.
