Pittsburgh Now On Pace To Break Last Year's Record For Precipitation

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - After Thursday’s heavy rains, the Pittsburgh area is now on pace to break last year’s record-breaking precipitation total.

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh says we are now 0.55 inches above where we were this time last year.

We have now seen 29.90 inches of rain fall in 2019 compared to 29.35 last year.

Pittsburgh saw 57.42 inches of precipitation fall throughout all of 2018 and with storms on the way Thursday afternoon, it looks like we’re going to stay above pace to break that record, for now.

We are now sitting 0.55 inches above where we were this time last year in terms of precipitation accumulation for the year. We have now received 29.90 inches of precipitation this year compared to 29.35 inches this time last year.
