PITTSBURGH, PA (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Port Authority is canceling all remaining community engagement meetings.

The community meetings were part of a series that was organized to help gather feedback on upcoming transportation projects around Allegheny County.

The cancellations were made in preparation of any coronavirus spread to Allegheny County, but as of yet, there have not been any reported or presumptive cases of COVID-19 in the area.

The series, dubbed “Public Transit: A Community Discussion”, had events lined up in Downtown, East Liberty, Millvale, Monroeville and McKeesport.

One of the meetings was scheduled in Oakdale on Wednesday, March 11 but is now canceled.

“Although there have been no presumptive cases in Allegheny County at this time, we decided to cancel the remaining meetings to make sure we were not causing anyone to take unnecessary health risks,” said Port Authority CEO Katharine Kelleman. “I have full confidence that we’ll be able to reschedule these meetings and continue to engage communities throughout our region.”
