President Trump Says 'Case Is Closed' But Mueller Says Report Does Not Exonerate The President

(Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - President Donald Trump is responding after Robert Mueller publicly addressed the Russia investigation for the first time Wednesday.

The president said on Twitter, “Nothing changes from the Mueller Report. There was insufficient evidence and therefore, in our Country, a person is innocent. The case is closed! Thank you.

But Mueller said the report does not exonerate Trump.

"If we had had confidence that the president clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so," Mueller said. "We did not however make a determination as to whether the president did commit a crime."

Mueller said charging the president while he is in office with a crime was "not an option" his team could consider in the Russia investigation.
