PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A public hearing will be held by the Allegheny County Health Departmenton Tuesday to receive citizen comments regarding the department's settlement agreement with U.S. Steel.
The Allegheny County Health Department say anyone who wishes to make a public comment must do so by 6 p.m. Monday.

The hearing will be held at the Clairton Municipal building on Ravensburg Boulevard Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Each speaker will get three minutes to comment. The Health Department will not make respond to any comments during the hearing.
The agreement came together at the end of June, and included repairs to the batteries and battery operations to help reduce fugitive and stack emission at Clairton Coke Works, commitments to improve transparency, and the community benefit provisions.
One of the community benefit provisions stated that, "US Steel will be paying all fines related to the 2018 order amounting to $2,732,504. Of these fines, 90% ($2,459,253) will go into a community benefit trust for impacted communities while the remaining ten percent ($273,250) will go into the clean air fund."

"The hearing allows verbal comments to be entered into the record, which will have equal weight to any written comment received by ACHD during this public comment period that ends Wednesday, July 31, 2019."
