HARRISBURG (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A warning to seniors about a genetic testing scam.
The State Department of Aging warns scammers are telling seniors can receive “free” DNA testing covered by Medicare, to help them avoid disease or find the right medications.
It is actually an effort to learn seniors’ personal information. Officials say not to accept genetic testing services not ordered by your physician, always review Medicare notices for potentially questionable services, and do not give out personal information.
Anyone can report elder abuse by calling 1-800-490-8505, or through an Area Agency on Aging.
