
HARMONY, Pa. (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Seneca Valley School District is planning to have students back in class five days a week this fall.
The district surveyed parents 6,400 responded with 79 percent of them saying they plan to have their kids back in school.
Other parents will be able to choose online learning or a hybrid model of online and in-person schooling.
According to the survey, the strongest preference (39 percent) is for a group of students to attend school on Mondays and Wednesday and the other group to attend school in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 32 percent support one group attending on Mondays and Tuesdays and the other on Thursdays and Fridays.
The survey also found that 72 percent of students intend to ride a bus and 60 percent intend to purchase lunches.
Once a safety plan is approved parents will have the open to select the learning model they want for their student(s).
If situations change, the district says they believe they can adapt quickly.
“It is clear to us that we need to be flexible and prepared to pivot quickly should directives or guidelines change. We feel ready to do just that.”
