PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) The City of Pittsburgh Department of Mobility and Infrastructure (DOMI) has announced Saturday that they will be installing asphalt speed humps on Grandview Avenue in the Mount Washington neighborhood.
DOMI says the hopes with the project is to discourage drivers from speeding on Grandview Avenue and making it safer for walking pedestrians.
Data showed that 61% of drivers on the road exceed the posted 25 miles per hour speed limit.
When rubber speed humps were added and monitored, drivers who exceeded the speed limit was reduced to 32%.
Work is tentatively set to beginning Monday, June 29, and is expected to be completed in one to two days, depending on the weather.
Construction hours are scheduled for 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The speed humps will be a permanent fixture on Grandview Avenue.
