(Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The U.S. Postal Service is honoring our nation’s military working dogs with new forever stamps available starting Thursday.
The book of 20 stamps features the German Shepherd, Labrador Retriever, Dutch Shepherd and Belgian Malinois breeds.
The four canine breeds commonly serve in the United States’ armed forces.
While many breeds have served over the years, these four breeds are predominantly used today.
“Brave and loyal military working dogs are essential members of America’s armed forces. Courageous canines have aided U.S. soldiers in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. Today, the 341st Training Squadron at Lackland Air Force Base just outside of San Antonio, TX, trains American military working dogs and their handlers,” the Postal Service said in a release. The art for the stamps was created by DKNG studios.
