HARRISBURG (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A bill that would reopen car sales in Pennsylvania has passed committee.
Representative Natalie Mihalek’s (R-Allegheny/Washington) proposal would allow all car dealerships to start selling again under CDC guidelines.
Most dealerships had to stop selling vehicles last month after the governor closed all non-essential businesses, unless they receive a waiver.
“I am excited to share that my legislation to reopen car sales in PA has successfully passed out of committee,” said Mihalek. “This is a step in the right direction to allow our Pennsylvania dealerships to stay in businesses, while keeping their employees and customers safe.”
House Bill 2388, will now head to the House floor for consideration.
“I know one of our primary functions as a government is to keep our citizens safe from harm. However, there has to be a balance between the preservation of public health and absolute economic devastation,” continued Mihalek. “Our surrounding states have found a way to keep these sales moving with zero human interaction, and I think we can do that here too. We can do this smartly for our businesses and we can do this safely for our consumers.”
