State Confirms 1,178 New COVID-19 Cases

HARRISBURG Pa. (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) Dr. Rachel Levine did not hold her daily media briefing today, instead giving all of the COVID-19 updates through a press release.

The release stated that there have been 1,178 new cases of Coronavirus, bringing the statewide total to 22,833.

Along with the new cases, there have been 13 new deaths, surpassing 500 deaths with 507 total.

The total number of negative tests has risen to over 100,000 reaching 102,057 negative tests.

Of the patients who have tested positive to date the age breakdown is as follows:

  • Less than 1% are aged 0-4;
  • 1% are aged 5-12;
  • 2% are aged 13-18;
  • Nearly 9% are aged 19-24; 
  • Nearly 49% are aged 25-49; 
  • 29% are aged 50-64; and
  • 22% are aged 65 or older.

As of the morning of April 12, Pennsylvania is one of seven states in the country with more than 20,000 confirmed cases.
