State Police Issue 11 COVID Warnings, 1 Citation To Local Businesses

HARRISBURG (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Pennsylvania State Police Liquor Control Enforcement Officers issued 11 warning to businesses in the Pittsburgh area related to COVID-19 mitigations efforts over the weekend.

One business was served a notice. Businesses who are cited may face the possibility of losing its liquor license.

Officers are visiting businesses across the commonwealth to make sure that coronavirus mitigations efforts are followed, including social distancing, wearing a mask, and other health requirements of the liquor code.

The Pittsburgh area conducted 282 checks, by far the most in the state.

More details from police for businesses include:

  • Require all customers to wear masks while entering, exiting or otherwise traveling throughout the restaurant or retail food service business (face masks may be removed while seated). Further, employees are required to wear masks at all times.
  • Provide at least six feet between parties at tables or physical barriers between customers where booths are arranged back to back.
  • Ensure maximum occupancy limits for indoor and outdoor areas are posted and enforced.

Across the state, 37 businesses were warned with seven businesses cited.
