PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The person or persons who shot a bald eagle on the West Penn Trail in Derry Township is still at large.
The bird was shot by a small caliber rifle on Friday October 4 and died a couple of days later when it was euthanized because of injuries to its skull/
The reward for information leading to the prosecution of whoever is responsible is up to $1,000
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Game Commission office at 724-238-9523.
Dorothy Pierini-Rodgers, who organized a GoFundMe, tells KDKA they currently have raised over $2,600 and would like to also thank each person that has responded with donations and sharing the story on social media.
The money raised will go toward the reward as well as the center in Verona that helped care for the bird before it had to be euthanized.
