TSA Pittsburgh International Airport

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A day after two handguns were stopped by TSA agents at Pittsburgh International Airport Monday, a third was stopped on Tuesday.

The TSA says a "Pittsburgh resident was stopped with a .40 caliber handgun loaded with 11 bullets including on in the chamber."

The gun marks the 12th firearm stopped by the Transportation Security Administration in 2019.

On Monday a West Virginia woman was stopped with a loaded handgun and later that day an Allentown man was stopped with a gun.

The TSA contacted the Allegheny County Police Tuesday when they confiscated the gun and detained the person for questioning.

The TSA reminds people that even those with concealed carry permits are not allowed to bring guns past security and could face civil penalties up to $13,000.

In addition, those who try to bring a gun through security, the checkpoint lane is stopped and passengers cannot get through security until police resolve the incident. This can cause some to miss their flights.
