PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) — Tree of Life Congregation is looking to collect and document the stories behind items left at the makeshift sidewalk memorial set up outside the synagogue after the 2018 mass shooting.
Researchers are interested in the messages behind all of the mementos left behind that will now be preserved.
Some of the more intriguing items include a marathon medal, high-top sneakers, a guitar, camp chairs and a nurse's cross that was hand-delivered on the November day that the memorial was dismantled.
Researchers are also looking to identify musicians that performed at the memorial in the weeks following the attack that killed 11 people and wounded six.
The archival project asks anyone who left something at the memorial, played an instrument or sang nearby, please share your story to share their story here.
