PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Trout season kicks off at 8:00 a.m. this Saturday morning.
If you plan on participating, be sure to pick up a fishing license from a Dick’s Sporting Goods, Wal-Mart or any other issuing agent. Anyone under the age of 15 does not require a license.
Don’t forget to get a trout stamp either, especially if you hope to take trout home.
“If you plan on keeping the trout, you are required to have a trout stamp. If you are not, you are not required to have a trout stamp,” said Michael Johnson, Waterways Conservation Officer with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, during an interview with KDKA Radio on Wednesday.
There are a few other rules to follow; you can catch up to five trout a day, as long as they are larger than seven inches.
“There’s a certain amount of responsibility that the anglers must take, and having a tape measure or another measuring device is something that we would require so that you can measure the fish correctly,” Johnson explains.
For more information on trout fishing, you can visit the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission.
