STATE COLLEGE, Pa (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Penn State University confirms two students have the mumps.

That's according to WTAJ-TV in Altoona, reporting the cases are not believed to be related.

Both students are being kept in isolation as school officials investigate who had contact with them.

This is the third year in a row mumps have been reported at Penn State's main campus.

A recent outbreak at Temple University prompted the school to open free vaccination clinics.

Health officials say the mumps-measles-rubella vaccine is the best defense from infection.
