
PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Two local interim Police Chiefs died over the weekend.
Ambridge Chief Mark Romutis died on Sunday night as a result of COVID-19.
The Beaver County Times reports Romutis had tested positive for coronavirus late last month but went back to work late last week.
He started experiencing complications from COVID-19 and was transferred to Allegheny General Hospital where he died.
“Beaver County Emergency Services is saddened to hear of the passing of Ambridge Police Chief Mark Romutis. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mark’s family and fellow Officers. Thank you for your service,” Beaver County 911 said on Twitter.
Romutis was 64.
The Times also reports that Interim Aliquippa Police Chief Robert Sealock died on Saturday after being at Heritage Valley since late last month.
Sealock had been a ventilator since being taken to the hospital on Mark 26.
It’s not clear if Sealock’s death is related to COVID-19.
“Beaver County Emergency Services is saddened to hear of the passing of Aliquippa Police Chief Rob Sealock. Thoughts & prayers go out to Rob's family, friends & fellow Officers. Thank you for your service. May you Rest In Peace,” Beaver Co. Emergency Services said in a Tweet.
Sealock was 49.
