PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - On Friday, U.S. Steel spoke out about its ongoing process of laying off employees in a larger company restructuring.The changes were originally announced in early October in a move to saves costs to the tune of $200 million.The company did not disclose any more details about the operation, including the number of employees being affected.It is affecting jobs nationwide, though, not just in Pittsburgh.The company did make mention that all position being laid off were non-union.The restructuring process is still in initial phases, and the company doesn't know if there will be plant closures or divestitures.
