PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A gun rights rally is underway at the City-County Building Downtown.

KDKA Radio’s Joe DeStio reports several hundred people are attending the rally with most of them in the portico and the remainder spilling out onto the sidewalk and street.

Police have closed one lane of Grand Street in front of the building.

The rally began with a minute of silence for the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting victims.

Organizers say the effort to control guns in the City of Pittsburgh is a misguided response to the deadly massacre in Squirrel Hill.
