PITTSBURGH (News Radio 1020 KDKA) - An Armstrong County woman will spend at least 20 years in prison for attacking her husband with a hatchet.

The Tribune Review reports 43-year-old Melanie Sue Snyder of Manor Township pleaded guilty Friday to third degree murder for the July 2017 attack.

41-year-old Thomas Snyder died five months later.  The coroner ruled his death a result of the assault that police say occurred in front of the couple's three children.

Nineteen other charges were dropped as a result of a plea deal.
