PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Those looking for something other than a regular fried fish sandwich this lent can rejoice.
Wholey’s in the Strip District and WQED’s own Rick Sebak have teamed up to create a new signature sandwich, The Sea-bak Shrimp Burger.
The handmade burger is mixed with cornmeal and fresh veggies and features a sweet mango salsa with a slight hint of heat on bread of the costumer’s choice.
Sebak tells KDKA Radio he is honored to get to help invent a sandwich. He says that he got the idea from his days working in South Carolina.
“There was this amazing shrimp burger I used to get at this place in Charleston.”
Wholey’s Mike Blicha says the partnership just makes sense.
“Wholey’s fish market is a Pittsburgh institution and Rick Sebak is a true Pittsburgh icon. It makes sense to team up.”
“I think they only chose me because of the Sea part of Sebak,” the filmmaker said jokingly.
The Sea-bak Shrimp Burger will be available beginning March 6 (Ash Wednesday) through April 19 at Wholey’s Strip District location
