A Pittsburgh legend turns 80 today.
Donnie Iris, has been rocking the Pittsburgh area for decades.
Also known as “King Cool”, Iris saw his first commercial success with The Jaggerz and their number 1 song “The Rapper.
He would later go on to have hits like “Love is a like a Rock”, “That’s the Way Love Ought to Be”, “I Can’t Hear You” and of course “Ah! Leah!.”
A native of Ellwood City, Iris is one of the most well-known rock stars to come out of Pittsburgh.
Even though he’s 80, Donnie doesn’t act like it. He still looks like he could pass for 60-years-old or maybe even younger and still plays shows.
His 80th birthday celebration concert is set for March 11 at Robert Morris University.
Iris was also celebrated at the Penguins game this past Sunday.
When he was shown on the scoreboard, the crowd went crazy.
Some of the Penguins players may not have known right away who he was, but complimented on how good he looked.
Happy birthday Donnie!
