Box Office News - The quiet before the storm. That's how I would describe the first week of December at the box office. To take a line from a holiday classic "not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse" this week had no major releases and the low numbers reflect that. Disney's Encanto pulled in $12.7 million in its sophomore session.
Get ready to unwrap some potential blockbusters in the coming weeks with West Side Story, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and The Matrix Resurrections set to give the box-office a needed boost and although a low haul it's actually historically in line with Disney's previous Thanksgiving animated roll-outs: 2016's Moana, 2017's Coco, 2018's Ralph Breaks The Internet and 2019's Frozen II.
West Side Story (PG-13)

Steven Spielberg presents a new take on classic musical West Side Story.
Love at first sight strikes when young Tony spots Maria at a high school dance in 1957 New York City. Their burgeoning romance helps to fuel the fire between the warring Jets and Sharks -- Two rival gangs vying for control of the streets.
National Champions (R)
Starring - J.K. Simmons and Alexander Ludwig
Three days before the college football national championship football game, star quarterback LeMarcus James (Stephen James) and teammate (Alexander Ludwig) ignite a player's strike declaring they won't compete until all student-athletes are fairly compensated. Billions of dollars are at risk and legacies are on the line, the stakes could not be higher. Now, with only hours before kickoff, the head coach (J.K. Simmons) and various power brokers (Kristen Chenoweth, Timothy Olyphant) must race against the clock to protect or destroy the prevailing collegiate athletics system.
