Get ready for one of the cutest nights of the summer! The Pittsburgh Dachshund Lovers are hosting their annual pre-game dachshund races at the ballpark, featuring everything from speedy rookies to senior sweethearts.
- WHO: Hosted by the Pittsburgh Dachshund Lovers. The event features wiener dogs competing across seven different heats, including Rookies, Experienced Runners, Special Needs/Elder Dachshunds (ages 13+), and the Grand Champions’ Race.
- A pre-game dachshund racing tournament held in conjunction with the ballpark's official Bark in the Park Night. Each registered racing dog receives four complimentary tickets to the park, which include admission to the baseball game immediately following the races.
- Tuesday, August 4, 2026
- 6:00 PM: Venue doors open (all attendees and racers should arrive by this time).
- 6:15 PM: Races begin.
- 7:05 PM: Races conclude just before the game's first pitch.
- EQT Park. Spectators and group members will be cheering from Section 205.
- WHY: To bring the local dachshund community together for a night of fun, celebrate Bark in the Park Night, and crown the fastest Wiener Dog in Pittsburgh!
How to Participate & Attend
Important Note for Dog Owners: Registration is strictly limited to the first 49 purebred dachshunds. Spots fill up fast!
- To Register a Dog: Registrations are being accepted via the official Google Form only. Do not submit registration info through Facebook or Messenger. You can track open spots and waiting list updates on the Pittsburgh Dachshund Lovers Facebook page.
- To Watch the Races: Anyone wishing to watch the races must have a ticket for admission. Extra spectator tickets in the group seating area (Section 205) can be purchased online.
