PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The 7th Annual Larry Honors Our Hometown Heroes event on March 26, 2019 focused on the theme Love is Stronger than Hate.
The event honored five extraordinary local individuals: Joyce Erdner - Founder of The DoorWay, Steven D'Achille founder of The Alexis Joy D'Achille Center for Perinatal Mental Health at West Penn Hospital; Debbie Thackrah, Founder and president of Feeding the Spirit; German Township Police Corporal John Lingo; and George O'Donnell Founder of Friends to Friends.
In addition Larry's Heroes honored music legend Smokey Robinson with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his philanthropic work and featured musical performances from local performers Chris Jamison and FRZY.
Rabbi Jeffrey Myers from Tree of Life served as the event's keynote and shared his thoughts on the need in our society for the news media to feature positive news stories.
