PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – In a time where Americans can be easily divided by differences, one man is attempting to bring people back together through a board game called Red, White & Blueopoloy.

"I was listening to a podcast on the history of Rome and it dawned on me that in one of the most celebrated times of human history, everyone living at that time had a miserable existence," Game Creator Vince Coyner told KDKA Radio's Larry Richert on Friday morning. "I contrasted that with the United States, how both historically and today, Americans have so many wonderful things. We have lives today that kings and queens couldn't have dreamed of a hundred years ago."

Coyner told Larry that despite all of the inequality, victimization and conflict that can lead Americans to feel separated from another, citizens are connected through the nation's history of entrepreneurship.

"If I had a game that focused on all those things that we are able to have and often take for granted, maybe the gratitude that is inspired will cause people to not have so much conflict," Coyner said.

"At the same time to also inspire people to become entrepreneurs and bake more pies instead of fighting over the slices that already exist."

Red, White & Blueopoloy is a Monopoly style game where instead of properties, the board game's spaces feature prominent entrepreneurs from the United States like Steve Jobs, Elisha Otis, Willis Carrier and Henry Ford alongside immigrant inventors like Leo Baekeland, Sergey Brin and Levi Strauss.

Coyner told Larry that the design is to "remind us of the great things that we as Americans enjoy today" and inspire Americans to pursue and embrace entrepreneurship.

"The truth of the matter is, American entrepreneurship has been the single biggest driver of prosperity in the history of the world. It's a direct result of the fact that Americans have freedom that simply does not exist elsewhere," Coyner said.  "To the degree that we don't take advantage of those freedoms, and don't push for more entrepreneurship and prosperity, that's on us."
