The latest shot in convenience store battle of Pennsylvania is taking place outside the Keystone State.
Wawa just opened it’s first Ohio location. That’s traditionally Sheetz territory.
The new Wawa is in Liberty Township, just off I-75 between Dayton and Cincinnati.
The closest Sheetz is only a little over 10 miles away.
Earlier this year, Sheetz said it was interested in opening a store in Limerick Township, Montgomery County or, Wawa territory.
It’s been a long-time battle between Western and Eastern Pennsylvanians, Sheetz or Wawa?
The two brands have, for the most part, stayed out of towns where the other is operating.
"Sheetz can confirm it is interested in building a store at the intersection of Ridge Pike and Swamp Pike but it is too early in the process to provide further details,” Nick Ruffner, Public Affairs Manager for Sheetz told KDKA Radio back in February.
The first Wawa opened in 1964 in Polson, near Philadelphia.
Sheetz began in 1952 in Altoona, where its headquarters is still located today.
Both chains are famous for their food menu, coffee and more.
