Dallas (1080 KRLD)- Your children are more likely to get a nutritious meal when they go to lunch at school, as opposed to eating out at restaurants.
This study from Tufts University finds that more than half of meals at restaurants have what it calls, "the lowest nutritional quality".
80% of the meals at those restaurants are poor quality for kids, 65% of adult meals carried that same label.
Food trucks finished second-worst with more than half the food considered "bad nutrition".
In schools, only 24% of cafeteria meals got labeled as poor nutritional quality. And according to dietitian Amy Goodson, this is down to regulations that the schools must follow.
"There are guidelines and rules that school districts must follow in regards to the amount of grains and fruit, vegetables, dairy and protein that they are providing kids."
