NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Facebook's quasi-independent Oversight Board has upheld the social media site’s decision to suspend former President Donald Trump’s account.

However, the board noted that it was “not appropriate for Facebook to impose the indeterminate and standardless penalty of indefinite suspension.”

The board has ordered Facebook to review the penalty and to complete that review within six months.

“The Board insists that Facebook review this matter to determine and justify a proportionate response that is consistent with the rules that are applied to other users of its platform,” the board wrote.

Trump's account was suspended four months ago for inciting violence that led to the deadly Jan. 6 Capitol riot. Twitter also permanently suspended him.
