15-year-old fatally shot in Allentown identified

A 15-year-old is dead and a man is recovering after two shootings Tuesday.

Tuesday night, a teen was fatally wounded in Allentown.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office identified the victim as 15-year-old Tre’Sean Jackson on Wednesday afternoon.

Shotspotter picked up gunfire a few minutes after 5 p.m. on the 200 block of Beltzhoover Avenue.

First responders found the boy in the area of Loyal and Harcourt ways.

He had a gunshot wound to the chest and was taken to a hospital where he died a short time later.

Pittsburgh Public Schools released the following statement:

We are saddened to learn of the death of Pittsburgh Carrick student Tre’sean Jackson. The ninth grader was shot and killed on Beltzhoover Avenue yesterday evening. A quiet leader who cared deeply about his friends and family, Tre’sean was always willing to contribute to class, actively participating and working well with his classmates. His teachers, friends, and the entire Carrick staff mourn this tragic loss. Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time. We care a great deal about the health and wellness of our students and staff. Student and Employee Assistance providers are on hand at the school today to support anyone who needs it.

Earlier, around 12:45 p.m., a man was shot in East McKeesport.

Allegheny County police say it happened along the 700 block of Broadway Avenue.

That man was also shot in the chest, but was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
