PITTSBURGH (Newsradio KDKA) - The Fern Hollow Bridge in Point Breeze collapsed Friday morning, just hours before President Joe Biden was scheduled to visit Pittsburgh to discuss his $1.2 trillion infrastructure package.
"And it will give $1.6 billion for Pennsylvania bridges," said Charlie Wolfson, a reporter for Public Source. "Is it going to be enough to completely fix every bridge? No."
According to Wolfson, there are 175 bridges in Allegheny County rank poorly. 29 out of the 175 are in Pittsburgh.
22 of the 29 bridges in Pittsburgh are maintained by the city. The city is responsible for maintenance, but a lot of their funding comes from state and federal sources.
