An 18-year-old high school student has won a seat on the Highlands School District Board of Directors.

Elijiah Majocha is graduating soon, but that's not his only significant accomplishment this spring.

Majocha was one of 11 candidates running for one of five open board seats and came up a winner, which went over well as he was heading to classes this morning at Highlands High School.

“First walking in to school and I had a bunch of teachers clapping for me,” Majocha told The Big K Morning Show.

And, his family has a reason to be very proud.

“They realized that this is making history within PA, because I’ll be the youngest elected official in all of Pennsylvania,” added Majocha.

Elijiah says he wants to bring transparency to the school board, and to address bullying. In the fall, he plans on attending Chatham University, majoring in political science.
