The Audacy Pittsburgh Family, along with the help of the Pittsburgh community, was able to raise 603,000 meals for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
We were live from 5 a.m. until 5 p.m., until the final moments of the Giant Eagle Feed the Need Radiothon, where we introduced one bonus hour to get us to our goal of reaching more than 600,000 meals.
“Pittsburghers help their neighbors in times of need,” said Michael Spacciapolli, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, Audacy Pittsburgh.
"Our community is at the core of everything we do at Audacy Pittsburgh. The results of the Feed the Need Radiothon are a good showcase of radio’s power in our region We are so grateful to everyone who contributed to make this another successful year.”
Throughout the entire day, big donations came through from MSA, Highmark and former Pitt star Curtis Aiken. Bubba challenged all restaurants in the area to donate meals. Slice on Broadway, The Appian Way Coraopolis, Manny's Rook Station Cafe and Tootsies Diner were some that answered Bubba's call.
The need across southwestern Pennsylvania has increased dramatically due to the effects of COVID-19. The pandemic has resulted in a 42% increase in food insecurity in the region since 2018.
“We are so grateful for the support today from Audacy and its vast network of listeners and partners,” said Lisa Scales, president and CEO of Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
“For three years now, this event has been a testament to the incredible collaboration and support from our community to help our neighbors in need.”
Through your support, between March 16 and December 31, 2020, 36.6 million pounds of food has been delivered to our neighbors in need across 11 counties in southwestern Pennsylvania.
Yinzfluencers in the area also helped our cause by buying this shirt below, which is still available. Just name your donation starting at $17.99 HERE!
Thank you all for your help with the Giant Eagle Feed the Need Radiothon. We could not have done it without any of your help or support. Most importantly, thank you for being a good Yinzfluence.
