This morning's below freezing temperatures produced some icy conditions and caused numerous accidents.
The biggest of them happened round 6:30 on the Boulevard of the Allies/Forbes Avenue ramp from the Parkway East in Oakland where 22 vehicles piled up.
Five people have minor injuries.
One tow truck driver who was on the scene tells KDKA Radio’s Marty Griffin the situation was a mess.
“Those cars were packed in there so tight, even with the EMTs, the fire department that’s on scene, it was even a struggle for those guys to get to the people that couldn’t get out of their cars,” said Tony.
The slick conditions follow overnight snowfall. The National Weather Service says the 24-hour total at the airport is 1.2 inches.
Those five people were taken to the hospital to be treated.
