A 22-year-old man accused of stealing a car belonging to the mother of his child, with the 5-month-old inside, is now in the Allegheny County Jail.
Police were sent to the 300 block of Cedar Avenue in East Allegheny Monday night around 6:15 p.m. for a domestic altercation in a gas station parking lot.
A woman told officers she and Sterling Smith arrived in separate vehicles, got into an argument and said he drove off in her car with the infant inside.
Police tracked the vehicle to a home in Duquesne where Smith was arrested.
Mother and child were reunited and Smith is charged with strangulation, endangering the welfare of children and more.
